Departure and scenic drive to Kande

We will pick you up from your hotel and we will drive to the Kande settlement. It is a 1-hour scenic journey that takes you to the lush rhododendron forests, culturally rich forests, and alpine meadows. The paths are mostly paved, with some sections having twists and turns while ascending into the hills.
Along the way, you will get to see a glimpse of the Pokhara valley, stunning vistas of the Annapurna range, Phewa Lake, and local villages. 

Hiking to Australian Camp

Upon reaching the kande, we will have some breakfast and start our hike to australian base camp. The trails are mostly made of stone steps and go through lush forests and terraced farmlands. There are  few stops where we can rest for a while to appreciate the surrounding and click so photos for memories.

Arrival at Australian Camp

Visit Dhampus Village

Trek to Phedi

Drive back to Pokhara

Best time to go for the Hike

The best time for the hike is during spring or autumn season. During these seasons, the weather conditions are stable, with clear skies and mild temperature.  In addition, you will get to see the rhododendron bloom during spring season. 

There are other season suitable for the hike if precautions are followed and hike preparations are done properly. monsoon season comes with heavy rainfall and slippery trails. And the winter months come with cold temperatures. 

Food and meal options

There are variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner options available on the hike to Australian Base Camp. You can find teahouses where you can enjoy delicious food items. The breakfast options include Chapatis, omlettes, boiled eggs, hot beverages, pancakes, cereals, and so on. 

The lunch options include Dal Bhat, vegetable curry, noodles, momos, and so on. If you choose to extend the itinerary and stay in the teahouse, the dinner items include fried rice, soup, pasta, and so on.

Difficulty level of the Hike

The preventive measures are to stay hydrated, avoid alcohol and cigarettes, gradually assimilateand so on. If the conditions become severe, take medications like Diamox (acetazolamide).
