In this9-day short ABC trek, you will get to experience the unique blend of natural beauty, cultural diversity, and adventure.

The official short ABC trekking begins with the flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. During the flight from the administrative capital to the tourism capital of nepal, you will get to enjoy the beautiful scenery from the windows of the aircraft. After that, you will drive to Siwai, the starting point of the trek.

In addition, from the Siwai, you will trek to the Annapurna base camp, passing through various destinations and stops like Chomrong, Sinuwa, Dovan, and Deurali. Some of the popular villages that you will encounter along the way are Chomrong, Sinuwa, Dovan, Annapurna Base Camp, Deurali, and Siwai. In these villages, most of the locals are Gurung. The Gurung community will welcome you and give you the chance to speak with them, learn about their traditions, and take part in their cultural celebrations.

As this trek is a compacted form of theAnnapurna Base Camp Trek, you have to cover the long distance in a shorter time. Therefore, fitness and proper preparation are necessary. In addition, acclimatization is necessary during the trek to adapt to the changing atmosphere.

The best time to go for the Annapurna base camp short trek is in the autumn or spring season. During these seasons, the weather is stable and the skies are clear. In addition, there is less chance of rainfall.

In addition, in the spring season, you will have the opportunity to observe the blooming rhododendron. I suggest going for the trek during the autumn season to make the most of every penny you spend on the short ABC trek cost.

Best time for short abc trek

The best time for the short annapurna base camp trek is during spring and autumn season. During these seasons, the weather conditions are stable and the skies are clear. Also, you will get to see the flowers bloom during the spring season.

But, in terms of the private trekking experience, winter is considered the best season for the Annapurna base camp short trekking. Winter is the off-season, and fewer people dare to trek in the colder temperatures.

Travel insurance requirements

Travel insurance is the most important thing that is required while going on a short ABC trek. But not all the policies fulfill the requirements of the trek. You have to know your requirements before traveling.

While buying an insurance policy, you have to check that your policy covers all the additional expenses that might result from accidents. The policy should cover unforeseen event expenses like helicopter rescue, cancellations, stolen luggage, repatriation costs, and so on.

Accommodations and food

The accommodations for the short Annapurna base camp trek are the teahouses. Camping also becomes an option when reaching the teahouse is difficult. You will have to pay for the facilities, like charging, hot showers, and wi-fi.

In terms of food, you have a variety of options like Dal Bhat, Momos (dumplings), Thakali Khana, Gurung bread, spaghetti, French fries, pizza, and so on. There are also vegetarian options.

Transportation Facility

You can get several transportation options while going to the starting point of trekking. You can go to Pokhara from Kathmandu via flight or by road. There are several bus operating to the pokhara valley. From Pokhara Valley to Siwai, you can take a private vehicle.

Permits requirements for the short abc trek

While going for the Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek, two permits are needed for you. The first is Trekker’s information management system permit, and the second is the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) permit. These permits are for your safety and conservation of the areas.

You can get these permits at the Nepal Tourism Board 's office in Kathmandu or Pokhara. Or our company representative will get it on your behalf.

Difficulty level of the short abc trek

The overall trek difficulty is moderate. You just have to walk 5-7 hours daily, including ascents and descents. The maximum altitude that you will reach is 4,130 meters. So there is little risk of altitude sickness, and this increases the difficulty level. To know more, check out this blog: Fitness requirement for trekking in Nepal.

Gears and Equipment

When going for the short ABC trek, you have to add all the essential gears and  equipment in your bags. The basic items like layering clothes, trekking socks, headlamps, sleeping bags, underwear, bras, gloves, a wool hat, hiking boots, earplugs, a water filter, and a first aid kit.

Some of the other items include a water bottle, cash, a first aid kit, trekking poles, a mobile and camera charger, a power bank, plug adapters, cameras and memory cards, toiletries, medicines, and so on. These items are most needed when trekking to the Annapurna base camp.

FAQs

In theory, no. Anyone with robust cardiovascular capability and good stamina should be able to cope with higher elevations and lower oxygen density. Trekking or hiking anywhere in the world is strongly recommended for maximum enjoyment of your Himalayan adventure, however.

Lower oxygen density affects your cardiac and pulmonary systems at higher altitudes, which we frequently experience on our treks. Our bodies must adjust to the mountain elevation gradually, or we can become ill. Physical symptoms can range from general breathing difficulties to acute mountain sickness (altitude sickness, soroche, or "the bends"). To avoid altitude-related maladies, we pace our treks appropriately and incorporate acclimatization days throughout the ABC trekking itinerary. There are points throughout many treks during which trekkers may choose to either tackle additional hikes/day trips or rest and relax as their bodies demand.

Good overall fitness, flexibility, and health will ensure you trek safely and comfortably. Those with acute or chronic health conditions impacting their stamina, range of motion, coordination, or balance may have difficulty completing the trek. If you are in doubt about your physical readiness, consult a physician well in advance of booking your trip! General hiking experience and comfort with multi-day hiking will also ensure you are 100% ready to trek!

Our trekking packages are pretty much all-inclusive from the time you arrive in Nepal. We generally suggest you plan on spending about $300 or $600 for extra expenses, including tips. Extra expenses include items such as Your Nepal Visa, sleeping bag or down jacket rental, showers, WiFi, snacks, and charging electrical devices at tea houses along the way. We also suggest you plan on having extra funds available in cash or on a credit card in case your flight to Lukla is canceled and you decide to charter a helicopter, which is your personal choice.

Generally, most places in Nepal don't take credit cards, so they are of limited use. There are ATMs in Kathmandu, and you can get a good exchange rate by withdrawing rupees. The ATMS in Kathmandu generally charges a USD 5 service fee in addition to any charges that you might incur from your bank. These ATMs also often have a limit of 25,000 rupees per day (about USD 215).

We accept all major currencies. You can pay the balance in cash or with a credit card. Please note that we charge a 13% fee for credit card payments, so paying your balance in cash is much better.

Yes, you can do the ABC trek alone. The annapurna base camp trek route is not that difficult and hiring a guide is also not mandatory. But you still have to obtain the necessary permits and passes. Also, if you are really going on a solo trek, then you need to plan your itinerary and overall journey very carefully.

The Annapurna base camp trek from Pokhara is 56 km long. However, many trekkers have completed the trek in 5 days, while other trekkers take 12–14 days to complete the trek.

Yes, there is wifi available for the trekkers at Annapurna Base Camp. You can use the wifi by paying a certain amount, ranging from $1 to $4. However, the wifi is not always fast and may not support high-definition video streaming or heavy data usage. Also, the wifi in the teahouses has a low bandwidth and may feel slow to you.

Yes, you can leave any luggage at the hotel or our office in Kathmandu during the trek.

We take all possible precautions to proactively ensure the safety and wellness of our trekkers, but rest assured that our guides are trained and experienced in dealing with emergencies. Each guide is trained in first aid. In the case of altitude sickness, you will immediately be taken to a lower altitude. If necessary, your guide will utilize your travel insurance information to call a rescue helicopter, and you will be flown to Kathmandu or Pokhara for medical attention.?

Unless you signed up for a camping trip specifically, most treks include lodge or guest house accommodation. A small minority of trekking areas may not have lodges available, and accommodation in these places will involve sleeping in tents.

Trekkers generally walk four to six hours a day. That's between five and fifteen kilometers, depending on trail conditions and the state of the weather.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a moderate trek in the Himalayas. Most of the trail is below 3,000 meters (10,000 ft). The terrain can get challenging because of numerous stairs and the 6 to 7 hours of walking on a daily basis

Nepali law requires that children under the age of 18 be accompanied by a parent or guardian while trekking. There's no upper limit on our adventures, as long as participants are healthy and willing!

To prepare for the Annapurna Base Camp and Dhampus Village Trek, you have to book the trip 3 to 4 weeks prior to the beginning of the trek. During this time, you can prepare yourself physically and mentally, which is very important for a smooth trekking experience. Increase your core body strength, work on your stamina, and do long walking hours. Our team representatives will help you closely prepare for and plan for the trek.

The best time to trek Annapurna Base Camp is from March to April in spring and October to November in autumn. You can also go trekking in winter; however, heavy snowfall and extreme cold can make the trek challenging.

Yes, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a safe venture. You will be trekking with our professional and experienced guide, who will show you the route and take care of you. Our guides are trained to handle emergency situations in the Himalayas, and their numerous years of trekking experience make them very reliable.

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is popular because it takes you to the lap of the tenth highest mountain in the world, Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m). Likewise, the adventurous trekking route, breathtaking mountain views, and rich cultural heritage of the locals along the route also made this trek famous among travelers.

Both the Everest Base Camp Trek and the Annapurna Base Camp Trek have their own challenges. But if we have to choose one over another, then the high altitude, steep trails, and distance make EBC trek harder than the ABC trek.

The elevation of Annapurna Base Camp is 4,130 meters (13,550 ft).

Hiking, cycling, swimming, and jogging are the best ways to prepare for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. You can begin training for the ABC trek 3 to 4 weeks before embarking on the trek. Overall, you have to focus on increasing your core strength and stamina.

As per our trekking scehedule for the annapurna base camp, it takes around 6 days from Nayapul to reach Annapurna Base Camp. The total distance is 67 km.

The Annapurna Base Camp is located in the north-central region of Nepal at an altitude of 4,130 meters.

In respect to route, Everest base camp trek distance is 150 km, whereas Annapurna base camp trek distance is 67 km. The terrain is quite different from each other too. Overall, the EBC trek is harder than the ABC trek

Annapurna Base Camp trek costs may vary depending on the itinerary. Usually, the cost ranges from USD 400 to USD 2000 for 10–16 days.
