Pickup from Hotel and Drive to National Park Gate

We will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning and drive to the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park Gate. The route goes through picturesque landscapes, including bustling streets and serene rural views. It takes around an hour to reach the park gate. 

Start hiking to Nagi Gompa

After our arrival at the national park gate, we will begin our trekking journey. The route goes through lush green forests. On the way, you will get to see the beautiful village life and occasional glimpse of the Kathmandu valley. It is a 1.5-hour hike.

Explore Nagi Gompa

Upon reaching Nagi Gompa, we will explore the serene Buddhist monastery named Nagi Gompa. The environment of the monastery is peaceful. You may see the monks performing their daily rituals. Take a moment to see the tranquil monastery grounds with panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley and distant mountains. 

Continue hiking to Shivapuri Hilltop

We will resume our hike to Shivapuuri Hilltop after exploring the Nagi Gompa. The trail goes through steeper sections with refreshing climbs. You can rest along the way if needed. It is a 2-hour hike. You will get to see the views of the Kathmandu Valley, along with terraced fields and distant snowcapped landscapes. 

Lunch Break at Shivapuri Hill Top

After reaching the hilltop, we will take a lunch break. The environment around the Shivapuri hilltop is stunning and peaceful. You can enjoy the delicious packed lunch while enjoying the panoramic views of the Himalayas, lush green hills, and distant valleys.

Descend to the exit gate.

Following the lunch break, we will descend back towards the national park gate. The trail is less difficult when going downhill. During the descent, you will witness the scenic forests, terraced fields, and glimpses of local wildlife. After our arrival at the park entrance, we will take a time to rest and refresh. 

Drive back to Kathmandu

We will drive back to Kathmandu from the entrance gate. We will return the same route, retracing our steps. Then, we will drop you off at your hotel. This marks the official end of the journey.

The best time to go on the day hike to Shivapuri Hill is during the autumn or spring season. During these seasons, the weather conditions are stable, rainfall are minimal, and temperatures are mild. The flowers bloom during the spring and autumn seasons, which come with the festival events. although the hike can be undertaken year-round, the rainy season presents various challenges, including slippery trails and landslides. Some of the key stops on the way include Nagi Gumba and Tarebhir. On the way, you will get to enjoy the panoramic views of the Kathmandu valley. The hike is accessible throughout the year and is best for hikers of all levels with various fitness levels. 

Foods and meal availability

The day hike to shivapuri has various food and meal options but only in limited places. As you reach the remote zone of the trail, it is almost impossible to find even the tea stall.
