Key Destination of the Tour
- Mount Kailash
Mount Kailash is the main attraction of the tour. It stands at an elevation of 6638 m above sea level. This mountain is the most sacred destination of the pilgrimage and is believed to be the home of the shiva. The circumambulation around Mount Kailash is the main part of the tour. As of now, there have been no successful summits of this peak. It is due to its pyramid-like structure and harsh weather conditions. The Chinese government forbids climbing Mount Kailash due to religious beliefs and a number of failed attempts.
- Dolma La Pass
Dolma La Pass is the highest point of the tour and also the highest point of Mount Kailash Kora. It is located at an altitude of 5630 meters. It is an important stop on this tour while doing the Kora of Mount Kailash. The ascent to the pass is one of the most challenging parts of the Kailash Kora. The paths cross rocky terrain, narrow passages, and steep descents.
- Lake Manasarovar
Lake Mansarovar is a sacred lake located near Mount Kailash in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. It is situated at an altitude of 4,590 meters and has a maximum depth of 90 meters. It is believed that if pilgrims take a holy dip in the water of the lake, then their sins are washed away. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Brahma built Lake Mansarovar as a location for his sons to perform religious ceremonies. The water in the lake is considered sacred.
- Guge Kingdom
The Guge Kingdom is an ancient and historically rich region in Tibet. It is the main highlight of the tour. The descendants of King Lang Darma founded it around the 9th century. Over the years, the kingdom flourished until the 17th century. In the 17th century, the kingdom saw a mysterious decline.
Some of the key attractions of the Guge kingdom are Tsaparang Castle, the ruins of the palaces, chapels, ancient inscriptions, and Tholing Monastery. The kingdom is known for its rich cultural heritage. The kingdom reflects its unique artform, religious practices, and historical narratives.
- Tholing Monastery
Tholing Monastery is the oldest monastery in the Ngari Prefecture of western Tibet, established in the 10th century. It features murals, sculptures, and ancient artifacts. Talking about the complex of the monastery, there are three main temples: the yeshe-o temple, the Lhakhang karpo Chapel) and the Dukhang (assembly hall). The monastery is located at an elevation of 3800 m.
- Tsaparang valley and castle
Tsaparang valley is located in Ngari Prefecture. This valley is also called the Garuda Valley. Through this valley, the upper Sutlej river flows. The valley is characterized by picturesque landscapes, dramatic canyons and rock formations.
In contrast, Tsaparang castle is a huge fortress settled on the pyramid-shaped rock spur. The castle is 500–600 feet above the valley floor. This castle was carved out of solid rock, with numerous tunnels and caves serving as rooms and corridors. The base was the village where common people used to live.
The above part of the castle was accompanied by the two public temples, the Lhakhang Marpo (Red Chapel) and Lhakhang Karpo (White Chapel). Also, there are quarters for monks and a twisting stone staircase in a tunnel leading to the royal quarters and summer palace at the top.

Lhasa is the capital city of the Tibet autonomous region in China, located at an elevation of 3650 meters. The city has a rich history and cultural significance. Some of the popular religious sites are Jokhang Temple, Potala Palace and several other monasteries, including Tashi Lhunpo, Sera, Drepung and Pelkor.

Jokhang Temple is an ancient and spiritual site located in the heart of Lhasa, Tibet. In the seventh century, the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo constructed it. The temple is considered one of the unique and oldest buildings in Lhasa. The temple is one of UNESCO's world heritage sites and features a 12-year-old statue of the Lord Buddha, popularly named Jowo Shakyamuni. The locals believe that the temple has been blessed by Lord Buddha himself.
- Sera Monastery
Sera Monastery is one of the popular monasteries in Tibet where Buddhist teachings are taught and practiced. The monastery is also known as a place for spiritual practice. A well-known Je Tsongkhapa disciple named Jamchen Chojey Sakya Yeshe founded it in 1419.
The history behind the name of this monastery is unique. The Sera was the wild flower that bloomed on the hill behind it during the construction of the monastery. So, the monks decided to name the monastery Sera Monastery. The monastery can be characterized by the Assembly Hall, prayer halls, chapels, sand mandalas, and intricate rock paintings of deities and Buddhas on the surrounding hills. The monks used to debate daily in the courtyard from 3-5 pm.
- Yamdrok Lake
Yamdrok Lake is a freshwater lake located in the southern part of the Tibet autonomous region of china. The altitude of the lake is 4441 meters. The lake is also known as Yamdrok Yumtso. The color of the water of the lake changes when sunlight falls on it. Also, the lake is surrounded by stunning mountains.
This lake holds spiritual importance among tibetans. It is believed by the Tibetans that the water of the lake has healing properties. Due to this belief and its beauty, the lake premises have become one of the most important sites for pilgrimage.
- Tashilhunpo Monastery
The Tashilhunpo monastery is located in Shigatse, Tibet. It is one of the most important and historically rich monasteries in the region. The monastery was founded in 1447 by Gedum Drupa (the first dalai lama). The monastery complex features Coqen Hall, the Chapel of Jampa, and various sutra halls and colleges.
